PIECE OF NEWS SUMMARY:

The NHS cancer plan may have helped boost survival rates in England, a study suggests - but experts are split over its real impact.
A comparison with Welsh data suggests "some beneficial effect" of the England cancer strategy launched in 2000.
But a leading cancer expert said the Lancet Oncology paper showed no "striking" improvement despite a huge amount of cash pumped in.
Cancer tsar Professor Mike Richards said both countries had seen benefits.
The study comes as the Office for National Statistics publishes the latest figures on cancer survival up to 2007.
Data was analysed on survival rates for 21 common cancers from more than two million patients between 1996 and 2007.

Thomas suffers further setback as Walsh steps in for ride on Denman

I took this picture from The Sunday Times and link.
On February 2th, 2009.
This is a picture of horse track
It's in Denman.
The people in the picture are happy.
They are a horseback riding.
It is a horse racing.
As you can see, there is a funny photo and a jockey is on the house.
I like it because it is my favorite animal and I love this sport.

PIECE OF NEWS SUMMARY:

Sam Thomas must be wondering where it all went wrong. Already bruised by a winter of high-profile calamities, he partnered only losers on Saturday as three different jockeys rode valuable winners for Paul Nicholls. Now, he must surrender the ride on the horse that brought him fame and glory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last March.

Ever since that stirring day, Nicholls has been publicly deferring the issue of riding plans for Denman. It made sense, given the human and equine uncertainties of this sport, but it left a public debate unresolved.

In this, if in no other way, he was helped by the fibrillating heart that alarmed all in the champion stable and delayed the return of the unbeaten chaser. But the day is now looming and it will be Ruby Walsh who partners Denman in the Aon Chase at Newbury on Saturday.

Even last night, on the eve of five-day entries, Nicholls was tiptoeing delicately around the subject before confirming what Thomas must privately have suspected ever since his season began to turn sour.

They are a shopping-mall security officer.
This crouching on the floor because this monitor a suspect.
I like this picture because is very funny.

PIECE OF NEWS SUMMARY:
As recently as a week ago, the vocation of shopping-mall security officer probably engendered as much public admiration as the professions of, say, car salesman or hedge-fund manager. But like a marked-down cashmere sweater at a post-holiday sale, the undervalued figure of the mall guard suddenly finds himself in demand in the entertainment industry.

Experts say we’re getting worse at maths and science. But now we have shiny new labs and cutting-edge teaching methods, were we really better off in the past? John Cornwell joins two leading scientists at their former schools to find out. Five out of six applicants I interviewed recently for Cambridge entrance for engineering couldn’t do a simple maths calculation: two to the power of 10.” The tense, fast-talking professor has been complaining like this since we left Cambridge for Birmingham. “That’s why,” he goes on, “students doing university science and engineering spend their first and even second years catching up on the maths my generation did at school.”
